Ever Been to a Show Home?
If you have ever been out 'kicking tires' or 'home shopping' on the weekend then I am sure your answer would have to be yes.
Ever notice how everything is PERFECT?
The flowers, the place settings, the furniture fits into each room PERFECTLY, the paint choices, the cleanliness...I could keep going but I think you get the picture.
Now I am not suggesting that your home has to be PERFECT when you get ready to sell, I am saying that you need to create the illusion of perfection.
What do I mean?
Put yourself in the buyers shoes and go ahead and walk into your own home.
Do you think that when you walk in you could mentally place your own furniture into the living room?
Could you visualize your own family pictures and your kids works of art on the walls? Can you see yourself developing the basement in the near future?
What Were Your Answers?
If you answered no to any of the questions above then you certainly have some work to do.
To quote Elysse Bulloch of Simply Stylish Staging:
"Buyers don't buy houses, they buy a lifestyle"
I agree with this statement...most buyers start their search with the neighbourhood which speaks directly to the type of lifestyle they want to live.
Here are some tips to help get your home ready to put on the market:
-
Declutter...you are moving right? Start packing, take the majority of your photos down, pack up the nick/nacks, move out unnecessary furniture and of course... clean, clean, clean
-
If unfinished Clean out your basement.
-
Go and rent yourself a storage facility to pack up the majority of your items
-
Get your carpets cleaned by the best carpet cleaners in Calgary
-
If you need to freshen your property up by painting, then paint...pick softer neutral tones. If you do not know how to paint, then hire it out. Look at it like an investment in a successful sale
